WXTJ Event Conduct Guidelines

WXTJ Event Conduct Guidelines UVA student radio takes pride in putting on a range of musical programming on grounds, and many of these events can have dense crowds, moshpits, or other close-contact situations. We want everyone to have a safe, fun, and memorable experience at our events! While physical touch is sometimes unavoidable in these gatherings, it is crucial to maintain a respectful atmosphere and informed community so the music can keep playing for years to come. While dancing, moving through crowds, or enjoying pits, please be mindful of others around you. Physical contact can be part of the energy, but it should always be respectful and consensual. No one should feel unsafe, disrespected, or harassed. Official Guidelines: Move carefully and consider others' personal space. If you bump into someone, acknowledge it with a quick smile or apology. If you need to get by someone in a tight crowd, try tapping their shoulder first. DO NOT grab waists to move peoples' bodies - this is never necessary and, even with harmless intentions, may make folks uncomfortable. Check on those around you if they seem uncomfortable or in distress. Ask a friend or an event staff member for help if you see a situation or person that requires extra assistance. If starting or particiating in moshpits, keep your community in mind; these are communcal experiences and shouldn't center around individual dancers. Be careful about creating enough space and look around to ensure everyone understands what is happening. Use context to decide what kind of mosh movements are appropriate. No one deserves to get knocked or hit because of a dancer who is too in-the-zone to be aware.
